In a remote corner of southern Mozambique, along the border of South Africa’s Kruger National Park, lies one of Africa’s most ambitious conservation efforts — Karingani. Spanning over 150,000 hectares of wilderness, Karingani is more than a reserve. It is a living landscape. Karingani sits within the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area, a vast, cross-border initiative that connects Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe in one of the world’s most important biodiversity corridors. Karingani has led successful reintroductions ofleopard, wild dog, and other keystone species. A sophisticated tracking and monitoring programme supports anti-poaching, while its wildlife team works to maintain stable populations and genetic diversity.

Community Engagement

Conservation cannot succeed in isolation. Karingani invests in long-term community development through employment, training, education and infrastructure projects that place local people at the centre of the reserve’s future.

Transboundary Conservation

As a critical link in the Great Limpopo corridor, Karingani works with neighbouring parks, governments and organisations to preserve migratory routes, combat wildlife crime, and promote cohesive regional management.
